A Look at the Future of Power
Resources for fossil fuels are dwindling rapidly. The next 15 to 25 years will mark the depletion of major oil wells around the world. An economic and power crisis is hanging over our heads, and yet majority of the people do not seem to care or, if they do, they are suffering from complacency thinking that someone will solve it for them.

Around the world, people use gas powered vehicles going to and from work everyday. Some powerplants still use fossil fuels to generate electricity. In China, the population of fossil fuel powered vehicles in use in one city alone is astronomical. You hear powerful and common people alike making speeches about it, and yet nothing is done. Why? Waiting until the last minute will make things more expensive for you. Imagine trying to sell your coupe when there is nothing to fuel it? How about being forced to convert your enginge because there is no more gas? Doing that right at that point will cost you a fortune since you are forced to it. Will you be able to shoulder the costs of instant change?

If you can look twenty years into the future, you will see petrol refuelling stations closing down because there are no availabe supplies to restock with. People will be at a loss as to how to traverse long distances either by land, sea or air. Tourism will bog down. The economy will collapse because nobody is doing anything significant enough. Inspite of all the alternatives that have come out, their respective technologies have not reached that level of efficiency that combustion engines have achieved. Let's review what we know.

Solar energy is the cleanest source of energy available in the world today. It is constant in supply that the law of supply and demand which govern the prices of commodities in the market will not affect it. All you have to do is to purchase a solar generator and viola... perpetual power and no monthly power bills. The problem right now is that the technology of solar cells is still limited. We may use solar power, but we'd be needing a whole field and lots of solar panels to be able to power a whole building. If ever a decision is made to pour money into a single system of power generation, solar energy research would win hands down.

Some people say that electricity can do the job while waiting for solar power. Sure, that is, as long as power plants using fossil fuel to generate electricity do not close down. We have to look at the bigger picture. It's not only cars that use fuel.

Do not even bother looking at ethanol - gasoline mixture or hybrid vehicles. Those are just temporary solutions to a problem with a dead line. The object of the game is to free ourselves from fossil fuel dependency.

A german car manufacturer is exploring an engine system fueled by water. As of the moment, there are too many explosions to make it a viable alternative. Then again, isn't water a precious resource as well.

In the years to come, there will be a lot more alternatives offered. All of them in limited supply just like oil. We have the sun staring us straight in the face. How big a clue do you need?
